Softel announced today that it will be a part of an exciting line-up of innovative companies that Imagine Park will showcase during the Cable Show 2012 in Boston. Imagine Park is a key feature of the Cable Show, with a live-events stage presenting innovations and the people and companies making them happen. Softel’s Chief Executive, Sam Pemberton will take the stage on Tuesday May 22nd at 12.15 pm as part of a session called “Control Freaks: Natural User Interfaces Find Their Way Home”. He will deliver a presentation entitled “Enabling operators to own the second screen using EBIF watermarking” during which he will demonstrate next-generation dynamic interactivity between the first and second screen.

Dalet and Softel Integration Offers Streamlined Program Preparation and Deeper Metadata Mining

Softel and Dalet announced today that their integrated subtitling and captioning solution based on Softel’s Swift™ vTX and Dalet Media Life has been successfully deployed at several customer locations around the world. Developed as the result of a partnership between the two companies, first announced at NAB 2011, the integration provides a highly efficient platform for a variety of subtitling and captioning processes and has enabled broadcasters to optimize their video assets and mine this rich metadata.

The integration allows the text from subtitles and closed captions associated with a video asset to be searched and reviewed directly from within the Dalet MAM system. Softel’s software enables customers to extract encoded subtitles and captions from archives or recently-produced/ingested materials for repurposing.

Automated Synchronization of Captions for Edited Content Delivers up to 90% Productivity Gain

Softel, the global leader in captioning and subtitling software, and Nexidia, the leading provider of dialogue analysis technology, have combined their unique capabilities to reduce captioning costs and help content owners monetize their media faster. Swift ReSync™ Enterprise powered by Nexidia automates batch retiming of existing caption and subtitle files to match videos that have been edited for rebroadcast or redistribution. First trials show that Swift ReSync Enterprise increases output and reduces costs for caption and subtitle timing by 40 to 90%.

Swift ReSync is particularly well suited to answer the challenge faced by United States broadcasters and others who need to comply quickly with new FCC mandates for online video captioning. These regulations, which will begin to take effect later this year, require that any media that has been broadcast with captions must have the same quality of captioning when played over the web, tablets, smartphones or other IP devices. Swift ReSync Enterprise is Softel’s flagship response to this challenge. In this session, Pemberton will give an overview of the most recent technology developments that are helping broadcasters stay ahead of the curve in the face of ever-increasing legislative and business pressures.
