Subtitle and Closed Caption Creation

The subtitling or closed captioning process starts with creation, using a subtitle or closed caption preparation software on standard PC workstation hardware. Working alone, or as part of a subtitling team, operators prepare subtitles and closed captions by importing ‘browse quality’ video clips created by digitizing video from tape or transcoded directly from master video files stored within an asset management systems or on video servers.

Subtitle and closed caption preparation software handles a wide variety of subtitle formats, from Open and Closed Broadcast Captions to consumer storage mediums such as DVD and Blu-Ray, or repurposed subtitles or closed captions stored in legacy formats.

Softel has developed Swift™ Create to create and repurpose subtitles and closed captions. Swift Create offers full support for pre-prepared subtitling, and Swift Create Live extends the functionality to cater for subtitling for live programming.

Swift Create can be used with Swift ReSync™ TiGo to automate the process of timing subtitles to video as they are initially typed or spoken in order to increase productivity and reduce cost.

Swift Create subtitling and closed captioning software is used by the most prestigious broadcasters, post houses and numerous freelancers and is the most widely deployed subtitle and closed caption workstation across the globe.
