The USA FCC Video Description Mandate is Now Official

The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) mandate for cable and broadcast TV stations to offer audio descriptions of their programming became official on Sunday July 1st 2012. Audio description provides access to content for visually impaired viewers. The new requirement calls for cable and satellite providers with more than 50,000 subscribers and the four national broadcast networks in the top 25 markets to include 50 hours of video descriptions in each quarter, or about four hours a week.
